About the artist

Yukimi Annand is a calligrapher, lettering and book artist based in Southern California. She grew up on her parents’ flower farm in Japan. She studied visual communication design and worked as a graphic designer for over 10 years in Tokyo. She left her position as a director in the prestigious Takenobu Igarashi Studio to come to the U.S. in 1990.

She is passionate about the beauty of the Roman alphabet and creates unique artwork with her love of calligraphic mark making and textures incorporated with nature. She has been experimenting with the use of tools and mediums to expand her world of calligraphy.
