Summer is a season of bright sun and warm weather, of optimism, hope and adventure. Summer is also a symbolic of growth. In this piece, I explore growing an idea into something more, one step at a time. As I continue, today will grow into a better tomorrow and everything will fall into place.

About the artist

A certified SAP consultant, Mabel’s training in information technology and computer sciences is a world away from her interests in calligraphy and botanical watercolours.

Mabel’s love for calligraphy began when she attended a lettering workshop in 2018. Intrigued by how a nib could produce such beautiful lines, she began to pour her energies into learning the Copperplate and Spencerian scripts.

Based in Malaysia, she belongs to a new generation of young calligraphy enthusiasts – resourceful and very hungry for learning. Mabel shares her passion for calligraphy by hosting workshops and a blog, and has even created her own line of shiny metallic watercolour paints, under the label Piqments.
