Alicia Márquez

Alicia works with letters and text, drawing from her background in typography, graphic design and calligraphy. She is fascinated by how words take on new meanings when transformed visually. She enjoys working with various materials, especially those that allow her to play with light and shadow, like collage and letter-carving. Her goal is to create pieces that invite people to see language in fresh, unexpected ways.

Alicia's work has been featured in issues of 'Letter Arts Review' and 'Forum' magazines, among other publications.

Her work has been featured in the Newberry Collection and exhibited at the Newberry Library, the Museum of Design in Chicago in USA, and The Lettering Arts Trust in the UK.

She was also a speaker at the Typographics Conference and Letrástica Festival, and was artist-in-residence at the recent International Calligraphy Conference Roman Holiday in the USA, 2024.
